Nairametrics hosts successful 2nd Edition of Capital Market Awards in Lagos

The 2nd Edition of the Nairametrics Capital Market Awards (NCMA) took place on Friday, June 5, 2026, at The Banquet Hall of the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, bringing together the brightest minds and most impactful institutions in Nigeria's capital market ecosystem. Themed 'Capital Markets as a Pathway to Responsible Wealth Creation', the event featured a keynote address by Temi Popoola, Group Managing Director/CEO of Nigerian Exchange Group, who shared insights on how capital markets can drive sustainable wealth creation and economic transformation. The evening was hosted by the dynamic duo of Ladi Williams and Victory Wilson as compères, with Destiny, Olusegun, and Oreoluwa anchoring the Blue Carpet reception. Entertainment was provided by the Blues Project Band and a violinist, keeping guests engaged throughout the night. A total of 28 competitive categories were presented across six sectors: Issuer & Company Awards, Deals & Transactions, Market Participants, Market Infrastructure & Reform, Special Recognition, and Viewers' Choice. Major winners included MTN Nigeria Plc (Company of the Year and Utilities & Infrastructure Company of the Year), Seplat Energy Plc (Energy Company of the Year and Dividend Paying Company of the Year), and Wema Bank Plc (Commercial Bank of the Year). Five honorary awards were also conferred to recognise exceptional contributions to Nigeria's capital market and economic development. Posthumous honours were awarded to Mr. Gamaliel Oforitsenere Onosode for corporate governance and integrity, and Chief Mrs. Bola Kuforiji-Olubi as a trailblazer in corporate and financial leadership. Distinguished Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, received the Legislative Excellence Award for Financial Sector Advancement, while Distinguished Senator Osita B. Izunaso, OFR, received the Outstanding Legislative Support Award for Capital Market Reforms. The Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy & Tax Reforms was recognised with the Fiscal Reform & Economic Transformation award for its role in advancing Nigeria's tax reform agenda.
